Rider

How much will I be charged for a Ride?

Your ride will be based on the fare calculated by the taxi meter which is set by the City of Toronto.

You can click here to calculate the estimated fare.

There are no surcharges. As many as four people can ride without any extra charges.

We are happy to offer you a flat rate to certain destinations. Contact our Dispatchers to get your customized fare.

Will my driver be properly trained?

Yes, all our operators are properly licensed as taxicab operators (Vehicle for Hire Driver) by the City of Toronto. In order to get your taxi cab license, you must complete a comprehensive course which covers topics such as safety, customer service, route selection, by-laws and much more.

Once they have the Toronto taxicab license or Vehicle for Hire license, they may complete the Accessible Vehicle Training Course.

Our parent company, SCC is proud to be the first taxicab brokerage to be approved by the City of Toronto to offer the Accessible Vehicle Training Course.

In addition to the initial course, all drivers must complete an annual Driver Refresher course. They also get one-on-one coaching depending on their needs.

How long will I have to wait for my ride?

On most days you may expect your sedan vehicle to arrive within 8 to 10 minutes of your request.

Download your app and watch your vehicle as it commutes to you. You will get a call-out once your ride is within 100 metres.
As you can understand, during bad weather, unusual traffic situations or rush hour you may have to wait longer. The dispatcher will be able to give you a more accurate estimated time of arrival.

Can I get a flat rate to the airport?

Yes, you can get a flat rate to Pearson Airport and many other destinations. Ask the dispatcher when you call to book a taxi. The driver will run the meter but only charge you the flat rate or the metered rate if it is cheaper.

What kind of vehicles can I choose from?

We pride ourselves in offering some of the newest and cleanest vehicles. Many of our sedans are hybrid and it is our to continue to have a fleet with the greatest number of green vehicles and accessible vans.
Many of our accessible vans are contracted to TTC Wheel-Trans but we are proud to offer on-demand wheelchair accessible vans for everyone, at any time at the regular taxi rate.

Can I download a ride app and set up my personal account?

Yes, you can download the ride app from the App Store or Android. It’s simple, fast and super convenient.

Can I pay using my Debit or Credit Card?

Yes, you can pay using debit and credit cards. It is simple and safe. A receipt with the exact charge will be provided to you immediately.

Can I pre-book my ride?

Absolutely! You can book through your App, email or call us up to two (2) weeks in advance. We will make your reservations and a vehicle will arrive at the indicated time for you.

If I need an accessible taxi, can I call the same day?

Yes, we specialize in accessible taxi and paratransit service. We have a fleet of wheelchair accessible minivans with side- and rear-loading ramps.

We offer on-demand accessible taxi service. You can choose an accessible van when booking a ride for same day service.

How do I send feedback about my ride?

Can I call a taxi to deliver parcels and packages?

Absolutely! We deliver parcels and packages, often at a cheaper rate and faster than most parcel deliver companies.
You simply pay the taxi meter rate and your parcel gets priority service as if you were in the cab. Contact us just like you would book a taxi for your delivery need.

How can I become a taxicab driver?

We are so excited that you are interested in becoming a taxicab operator. It is a very fulfilling opportunity where you get to earn a good living while making a difference in people’s lives.

To be a driver, first, you need to be licensed as a taxicab operator (Vehicle for Hire Driver) by the City of Toronto. In order to get your taxi cab license, you must complete a comprehensive course which covers topics such as safety, customer service, route selection, by-laws and much more.

Business/Corporate

How can I set up a taxicab service account for my business?

We would love to welcome you as a corporate client to make the management of transportation super easy for your employees and customers. It’s a very efficient way to manage all your taxicab needs. There are many benefits, including priority reservations process, a single monthly invoice and detailed reports.

Simply email accounts@toronto1.com to tell us more about your needs and we will share the Corporate Account form for you to complete and get started. Your request will be reviewed within 48 hours. Once approved, you will receive taxi charge slips with your unique account number. You may distribute the charge slips as you like and they can be filled out and signed off when using a cab. Your rider does not have to pay anything at the time. A monthly invoice will be sent with all supporting receipts.

How long has Toronto 1 Taxi been in business?

Toronto 1 Taxi is a brand new company but our team of drivers and managers have been providing taxicab service since 1994 through Scarborough City Cab (scarborocitycab.com). We have just re-branded the taxicab division to show our customers that they can count on us to give them a ride to and from every corner of the city: East York, York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, North York, City of Toronto and Metro Toronto. We also want to welcome new members who are joining us from every corner of the city.
